LCD stands for “liquid crystal display,” a technology that’s used in many flat-screen TVs but can also be found in calculators, digital clocks, watches and many other low-tech items. Liquid crystals produce the image, but they need a light source. LCD TVs are lit by cold cathode fluorescent lamps (or CCFL, to throw another abbreviation in the mix). It's well documented that CCFL's are hazards to the environment.
SkyVue is the only true outdoor TV manufacturer to offer exclusively LED panels, which instead use light-emitting diodes to illuminate the display. The newer technology results in a crisper, brighter, more vibrant picture than the standard LCD used by our competitors – crucial for televisions that will be used outside in the bright sunlight.
The cutting-edge LED technology even uses 40 percent less energy than standard LCD or plasma sets of the same size, which means our television cost hundreds less to use over time. They are also more durable by lasting twice as long as conventional LCD screens.
We hope that shed some light on the subject.
